IAMO China Group Workshop 2018

IAMO China Group successfully held the annual workshop on December 7, 2018 at IAMO. The goal of the workshop is to update the group activities, to exchange among group members, and to discuss future plans. Prof. Thomas Herzfeld, Dr. Zhanli Sun, and Dr. Lena Kuhn reviewed the events and activities  in the past year, including the joint proposals and organized conference sessions. The newly designed group website was also officially announced. After that, Mr Xiaoxi Wang, a soon-to-be-graduated doctoral student from Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), was invited to give a presentation, titled “Trading More Food in the Context of High-End Climate Change: Implications for Land Dynamics and Food Prices”. Yangyi Zeng gave an update on his field survey about farmer’s pesticide application in Sichuan. Dr. Xiaowen Dai, a visiting scholar from Sichuan Agricultural University, also introduced his research on carbon emissions in agricultural production, especially in pork production, in China. The workshop was wrapped up with a discussion on the upcoming events and planned activities in 2019.
