The August issue of DCZ News Digest!

02 September 2022

"The impact of climate change on agriculture is becoming increasingly clear. While torrential rains threatened crop production in the summer of 2021, farmers and policymakers are battling a massive heat wave and drought in 2022. With temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius for weeks on end and little to no rain in many regions along the upper Yangtze River, mitigating the impact on the autumn harvest is now a top priority. The heat wave and drought also mean that consumer price inflation, especially for meat and fresh produce, is now a real risk." (DCZ 2022)

The main topics of this issue are:

 - Drought and ag production

 - Grain import

 - national soil survey
